My Research

To start research for this project, I began with two questions:

What academic, social, and emotional support are currently in place to support new refugee students in Chicago Public Schools?

 

What supports are missing from CPS and needed to help these students?

​

After determining these questions, I knew that I needed to start with an overview of the statistics on refugees in Chicago Public Schools (and Chicago as a city), then research the supports for CPS students and families. Finally, I concluded my research by determining what supports were missing from my findings and how Chicago Public Schools can do better to support their incoming refugee students.
