Supports for
Refugee Students and Families in Chicago

Supports for Students
Academic Supports
In performing the second part of my research for this project, I found that Chicago Public Schools does provide a variety of academic supports for refugee students enrolled in their schools. The supports people in these schools offer is accessible for all refugee students and information is readily available on the Chicago Public Schools website for families to access. Click the button below to learn more about the types of academic support that you, as a parent, can enroll your incoming student in.
The supports that CPS offers is primarily academic, but CPS offers little support for social emotional learning for incoming refugee students. Most of the support offered focuses on their time in the academic portion of school, but little support focuses on the social-emotional components of school and their time outside of school. Luckily, other non-CPS resources are available for students to use. Click the button below to learn more about resources for social-emotional learning outside of CPS and how your child can be involved with them.
